Welcome to Chesla Standard Poodles!
I was introduced to the Standard Poodle at age 5 when our family adopted, Duke, an intelligent and reserved black male. He made quite an impression on our family because after adopting him, we always had one or two poodles in the house while I grew up! As an adult, I knew when the time was right to own a dog, it would be a standard poodle! Delilah was my first female. She was a refined black beauty from Addie's Standard Poodles. She was very smart, loving, and a great companion to our family. After careful consideration, I decided to breed her in 2005. We had 7 beautiful puppies and I was hooked! The breeding experience was awesome from the whelp to the bittersweet time of sending the babies off to their new homes. Our first litter triggered a desire in me to learn more about the breed standards, genetics, health, training, and everything about the standard poodle.
At Chesla Standard Poodles, the focus is to breed AKC registered puppies who are sound in health & temperament, pleasing to the eye, and a love in their owner's heart! Our adults live in our home and integrated in our daily living. When we have puppies, they are our special guests in the 3rd bedroom. They are handled daily and exposed to most household sounds and activity. At age 4 weeks, I begin potty training them to go outside and by the time they go home, they are pretty much on a schedule that will be similar to what most families function at.
We are located in Northern Indiana just a short drive away from Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and southern Michigan.
